Publication of images is to show a range of possible outcomes from surgery and to help enable future patients in making their own informed decision about whether to consider cosmetic surgery.
This patient underwent a SMAS face and upper neck lift. Results shown are 8 weeks following surgery.
This MACS lift was carried out under local anaesthetic and sedation. This is done with a consultant anaesthetist who monitors the patient and adjusts the level of sedation as required. The scar runs just in front of the ear and in the sulcus behind the ear but does extend out onto the scalp skin behind the ear, in the mastoid area, so when the hair is worn up it will be less visible. Just above and in front of the ear there is a zig zag scar into the hairline to help re-drape the skin when the excess is removed. This is hidden by the hair.
The MACS lift can be used for a subtle natural result when the signs of facial aging are modest. Mr Oliver will generally recommend laser treatments afterwards to reduce the fine lines and wrinkles particularly around the mouth and sometimes in the lower eyelid. In addition the Clear Lift Harmony laser can be used for further tightening of the collagen in the face and neck. As with any facelift it may be combined with an upper blepharoplasty either at the time of surgery or separately.
This surgery can be carried out at Exeter Medical as a day case procedure in our state of the art operating theatre, or at Exeter Nuffield and Mount Stuart Hospital Torquay if the patient prefers an overnight stay.
Mr Oliver will discuss the risks and complications that can be associated with a facelift procedure and assess you to ascertain whether this procedure might be suitable for you.
