Publication of images is to show a range of possible outcomes from surgery and to help enable future patients in making their own informed decision about whether to consider cosmetic surgery.
This 38 year old patient underwent liposuction to her lateral thighs, medial thighs and inner knees. 400 cc was removed from each lateral thigh 350 cc from medial thighs and 150 cc from the medial knees using a tumescent liposuction technique and aspiration with a powered MicroAire cannulae. The results are shown eight weeks after surgery. A total of 1800 CC's of fat was removed. Very importantly she has lost approximately 8 lbs in weight since the procedure. Weight loss when combined with liposuction can lead to much better results.
When weight gain is associated with liposuction this can often negate any benefit from the procedure. It is also very unhealthy as fat can be deposited in other areas of the body such as the liver and pancreas causing health problems including diabetes. Therefore I always recommend that weight should at least remain stable but ideally reduce after this procedure. Liposuction is certainly not a substitute for weight loss but can be useful to shift stubborn areas of fat after you have reached your target weight.
This patient underwent liposuction to her abdomen inner thighs and inner knees. A total of 2.5 litres of liposuction was performed.
Liposuction results will always look better with further modest weight loss. It is also very important not to gain weight after this procedure as any further increase in fat will affect other areas of the body for example the arms and legs. It can also be very unhealthy if fat deposits inside the abdomen which can lead to medical problems such as diabetes. Therefore if you are going to undertake this procedure you need to be confident that you can at least maintain your current weight minus the fat that is removed at the time of the procedure.
The results shown here are at six weeks following surgery.
